    Description

This is a wooden idol from the Keaka peoples, who live in the South-East of the Cross River, Nigeria, their works are relatively rare and little documented, and constitute a style of transition between the art of their neighbors the Chamba and Mumuye. These powerful statues are associated with the cult of ancestors and Medicinal rites, referring to an exceptional spiritual being that is associated with such Idols and apparently called upon for healing magic. The idol has an encrusted surface and measures 11 inches tall ( 12.5 inches tall on custom wooden display stand)
