RossGallery presents this old African Slit Drum. It was carved from a single piece of wood. It features a stylized face with what appears to be a snake head protruding from the chin. Above the face is a headdress that makes up the body of the drum cavity. It is certainly not modern. It appears to be quite old, but I couldn't begin to guess the actual age...or the region...or the tribe...or even the type of wood. I would have to imagine that if you are here taking a look at this auction, you probably already know much more about this sort of item than I could ever hope to. Condition: Good condition with some scuffs, chips, and cracks consistent with age and use. Measurements: Roughly 29" x 5" x 5" tall. Weight: 5 lbs. 5 oz.
