Vintage Jeanette Glass Co Marigold Carnival Glass Eggnog Bowl & 6 Cup Set. Each piece of this set has a beautiful, lustrous golden hue and is embossed with floral (possibly a camellia flower) on the bottom. The bowl has a lovely identifier down in white with Old English script that reads “Egg Nog”. The cup handles have dainty swirls, has a 4-1/2 ounce capacity and has an approximate measurement of 2-1/8” tall, 3-1/4” in top diameter and has a 7/8” base diameter. The bowl has a capacity of 72 ounces and measures is 4-1/4” in height, has a top diameter of 9-3/8” and is 3-7/8” across the base. Each of the pieces are in wonderful vintage condition! Except for minor cosmetic blemishes – which is to be expected with a much loved set that is more than 50 years old - there are no chips, cracks, repairs or crazing.
Jeanette Bottle Works Company was founded in 1887. At that time they only produced handmade bottles. By 1899 they were producing canning jars, relish jars and automobile headlights.They continued to expand, and by 1904 they added medical supplies and household items. With the addition of new machinery in the early 1920s they were producing cheaply made and brightly colored tableware items; known as Depression glass. In 1961 Jeanette acquired McKee Glass, and together they produced beautiful glass patterns until they closed down in 1983.
